What does this word ‘Health’ mean to you personally? What images do you conjure up in your mind when you think about your personal health?
The word, HEALTH comes from the word, WHOLE.
Our overall health cannot be divided into food, mind and body as separate entities. The relationship must be interdependent for our whole being to thrive. Mental health is just as important as physical health. For me, Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease. All we need is the right strategy, a new mindset.
Holistic health is often defined as a form of healing that looks at the whole person: body, mind and spirit. The mind is not separate from the body, and what we feel, think, taste, see and smell is not absent from our decision-making process and neither is food a separate entity of nutrition.
To truly achieve optimal wellness in the physical, mental and spiritual sense we have to be viewing and supporting the body as the incredible system it is. Remember, your thoughts become your reality.
Nutrition and lifestyle affect our mental health as much as a positive reaction from the body. Our emotional health can affect our physical health. Your spiritual health should focus on how you are connecting with your inner soul and the greater world around you.
